Happy Easter!

I'm rushing to get this post up as the challenge is about to close.  I'm sorry if you see typos and mistakes everywhere.

One exciting thing I'd like to share is that my nephew was born at the wee hours this morning.  Yay!  And I guess you could tell why my crafting schedule was off this weekend and why the rush here.  Nevertheless I'm very excited to have a new family member!

I realize that I still need to send out a few Easter cards.  Here's one that I made this evening:

I was inspired by the sketch at Atlantic Sketch Challenge:

It has been a long time since I played along and I can't tell you how much I miss sketch challenges!  I'll sure play more frequently!

Love You

Early this year I bought the 6x6 Kiss Kiss paper pack from Crate Paper.  I made my V-day card then it has been sitting alone (collecting dust as friends as well).

I'm so glad to have learned a new way to use patterned paper with die cuts:

I learned this technique in a recent online card class and am in love with it!  I just have so much patterned paper that needs some love.  A new technique = an incentive to use my paper stash.  Yay!

Creativity booster

Mistakes.

Yes, I think mistakes do push me to be more creative.  At least in this occasion.

I learned a new trick to use dies in a recent online class.  I tried it out to make a background for a card and liked it a lot.  But when I put everything together to become a card.......................omg, I trimmed it a bit too small.  It was originally a 4.25 x 5.5 panel, so I did have some wiggle room.  No big deal, I thought.  The next thing I knew, I messed up the stamping.  Oops.......Now I gotta trimmed it even smaller to be a square.  So what you saw above was just part of the background I made, due to mistakes.

I know some people have no problem sending the not-so-satisfying ones to trash but I usually become so obsessed that I didn't want to throw it out immediately.  I want to salvage as much as I could.  In this occasion, I think it looks fine.

Of course, I wouldn't be able to not try out the technique again:

I've made it a landscape card this time and I think it is equally pretty.  Love this technique!

Miss You

Happy Wednesday everyone!

My throat has been sore since last night.  When that happens I know that my body is "on strike" as it has been working too much overtime.  I meant to take as much as possible but I couldn't until I've finished this card:

I have had much fun with Copic coloring but this time I decided to paper piece!  Just as fun!  I honestly don't think I can color the elephant well as it has a big area for coloring and I'll save it for some experts.  Giving it color by stamping it on color cardstock is pretty cool, anyway.

Alright it's really time to take some rest.  I figured that that's the best medication I can give my body.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I made this card just in time to share with you.  I've repeatedly mentioned that masculine cards and sympathy are difficult, and I'm going to add St. Patrick's Day cards.  I probably do not make enough of them so after a lot of modifications I still feel that the card was missing something or something just didn't feel right.

On the eve of St. Patrick's Day I have to stop obsessing and here's the final product:

I have a feeling that until I give it out tomorrow I may continue to play with it and modify it.  Truth be told I've taken pictures of its predecessor and was ready to put it on my blog and you know what happened.  LOL.  Is that OCD or would you rather describe it obsession for perfection?

Oh Happy Day!

Happy Friday!

I'm very excited about this weekend as I'll be meeting up with my aunt and my cousin.  It has been a long while since I last saw them and they happen to be here for a weekend.  We plan to have some Korean food and I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!

My card today is also a lot of fun.  It's one of my favorites - window card, and to make it very special I've made it interactive where the swing image could indeed swing back and forth:

The card front shows a bit of what's inside the card - basically a background of  a park:

The interior is full of spring energy:

Disney

Happy Wednesday!

As I use this blog as my craft diary, I rarely share any scrapbook pages here.  Today is an exception:

I learned this sketch from an online class taught by Kelly Purkey and I was completely drawn to it! I knew that I had to try it out myself!  This is probably the first time that I have such a large area for the title of a page.  It's probably my first time to cut the pictures into circles too.

It's fun and I think I'll use this sketch again!

Smile in the Jungle

It's Monday and I'm afraid this post has to be short.  I finally broke open my Lawn Fawn Critters in the Jungle set and had some fun coloring the images with Copic markers.  I wish I had more markers! (Don't we all wish the same?) I didn't have a card planned out but just stamped the images in black on white cardstock and colored away.  I cut out the pieces using the coordinating die set then started to arrange the pieces to make a card:

I do not make many cards with a scene and it was challenging to give the sentiment a home.  I put the sentiment in one of the flirty frames and put it in the middle of the card.

My card is entering the following challenges:

I'm stuck..........on you

Plants such as succulents and cactus are very popular in the stamping world.  I didn't jump on the bandwagon until I saw the set from Lawn Fawn.  I made a card with it immediately:

I've used different shades of green of each cactus and then to make it more interesting, I put a hat for the middle one, also some smiley faces on the pots.

Lucky Charm

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?  Or, do you make cards for those who celebrate?

I'm sharing one that could be used for St. Patrick's Day, or any time of the year for someone that you are thankful for.  It's a window card:

and when it's up right:

I love this image of Maneki-neko (Japanese beckoning cat, or fortune cat as I call it) and I wanted it so badly when I first saw it.  Isn't it cute?

I used the partial die cutting technique to cut the circle/window out from the top panel, then the same technique to cut out his upper body.  I would call it complete but thought a circle frame would make it nice.  And yes, it does give the window some more definition and I like it.

Recycling a card sketch

I have copic-colored a few images from Lawn Fawn sets an die cut them out.  But then I wasn't sure how I wanted to use them on a card.  I went back to this card and recycled the sketch.

I'd like to make a card for a little girl because her mom is temporarily away on a trip.  The little girl has been brave and good while her mom is away.  It will be another two weeks before they get to see each other so I thought a little card like this will cheer her up.

I had a lot of fun coloring the critters as it has been quite a while since I last did copic coloring.  I do need to brush up my skills!  (Yes, it also gives me a good reason to ask for more copic markers!)

My card is linked to the following:
