Boo

I only make a few Halloween cards each year for kiddos.  This year I spent most of my time and energy on this one for my niece.  The one I'm sharing today is much simpler:

This card will go to a little boy J that is turning 7 months old.  Now you see why I would not spend too much effort on his card.  Little boy J is getting really big for his age, so I hope he will like this card.

This is a 4-bar card.  I used the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn to create the background panels.  Then I colored the pumpkins and cute smiley ghosts and fussy cut them.  The letter b came from Lawn Fawn Louie's abc die set.  This is a simple design to incorporate the pumpkins in the word boo and make the ghosts appear as if they come out from the letter b and the pumpkin.

This card is entering the following challenges:
Doubleclick - Halloween
4 Crafty Chicks - Halloween
Craft Rocket - Spooky
Moving Along with The Times - Halloween

Procrastination

I'm here typing away as time is almost up to link up my card to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I hate to admit that I am pretty good at procrastination.  :p

The sketch is quite challenge:

Since I saw it I have been wanting to use one of those lace images from Cricut cartridges.  I'm glad I found one from Artiste cartridge (p.69 Accent 2).  I cut it out at 1" real dial size, then added the sentiment from Frosted Cardmaking workshop on the Go, added some bling and leftover twine from the workshop, this card is done.  The part that took me the most time was to locate the right image from the cartridges and to test out which size works the best.  The actual crafting part is quick and simple.

BLESSED

Happy Friday everyone!  Yay it's almost weekend and that means craft time!

I'm sharing a quick post today with my Thanksgiving card.  It is a circle card and I love shaped cards!

I've also decorated the inside with a mat and coordinating paper:

I have quite a bit of the patterned paper and am working hard to use it whenever possible.  I thought it is a nice touch to tie the inside of the card with that patterned paper on the front, don't you think?  The difficult part for me is to line up the circular segment with the sentiment.  The sentiment must go parallel with the chord, and I was so scared that I would mess up.  A big relief when I got it on the first try.

This is my second time coloring the image on the front, except that I am using watercolor pencils this time while I used markers the first time.  I can't decide which medium I like better.  Perhaps I should color it again on a different occasion to make a comparison.

My card is entering the following challenges:

Nutcrafters - use a hand-colored image

A Sympathy Card

I failed to stay focus on Christmas cards!  I meant to make one last night when I first sat at the craft table.  Then I flipped through some magazines, tried to re-locate my ink pads to my new drawer, and the next thing I knew was that my ink pads were in a total mess (sometimes organization does not result in organized supplies, bummer).

At times like this I feel really bad - I've allocated some time for "crafting" but there was zero productivity.  I also know that if I force myself to get something done it won't be nice.  So I stepped out and came back and made a simple sympathy card:

I got my inspiration from CAS(e) this Sketch:

and the color combo from 4 Crafty Chicks - Black and White.

I also meant to share a Fall card, but you could tell that I didn't get it done.  Perhaps I will finish it up later today!

Cupcakes

When I was taking a picture of this card I made, I just came to realize that the card didn't involve any stamping!  It was all about the patterned paper from a 6x6 paper pack.

It is a kid's birthday card so lots of colors are required.  Lots of patterns and lots of fun.  Otherwise the kid may easily get bored.  Here it is:

The card sketch came from Deconstructed Sketch:

A wedding card

I was asked to make a wedding card and I am very happy to oblige.  I dug through my stash of paper to seek the perfect one for the card and it was a tough decision making process.  Of course I started with the For Always paper packet but then I went on and on and spent perhaps more time on picking the paper than making the card.  Finally I settled on the retired Veranda paper pack and I think it was a good choice.

Veranda is one of my favorite paper packs of all times.  I like the elegant pattern and the color combo - it is just perfect for a wedding card.

The card is based on the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

See how much the Close to My Heart cricut cartridges have helped me?  Wouldn't be able to cut the "Congrats" without them!  My card is entering the challenge at Heart 2 Heart challenge - Tool Time and that at 4 Crafty Chicks - Sentiments Only.

Coloring (again)

I'm having quite a lot of fun coloring recently.  A couple days ago I colored a birthday hat with watercolor pencils, yesterday I colored some hexagons with metallic pencils and today I'm back to coloring, this time I'm coloring a birthday cake:

The stamps came from the cardmaking workshop on the go kit (Chantilly).  I like that I get to color the layers in different color!  The other thing I love to do is to squeeeze some glitter gel on the icing.  The glittering icing definitely puts a smile on a girl's face!  Do you see the pennants?  They are just adorable and fun!  The strip dividing the two panels is a zip strip that comes with all Close to My Heart paper.  It gives a perfect accent to the piece as it coordinates with the paper packet.

This card is based on the sketch from Seize the Birthday:

The card is also entering the challenge at Addicted to CAS:

and For Crafty Chicks - Birthday, birthday, birthday.

It has been a lot of fun coloring.  What coloring media do you have?  Give them some love today!

Au Lang Syne

It's the last day of 2012 and I anticipate a busy day at work.  Normally the end of the month marks the busiest days and 12/31 means the end of the month and the end of the year so it is going to be extremely busy!

I am glad that I did get some time to prepare this card for the challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks.  Remember those cupcake cards I made last week?  They rekindle my love with the color Buttercup.  It is one of the rarely used colors.  The ink pad is juicy and stuck at the very bottom of my ink pad stack.

So when I see the color combo challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks I thought I should take it out and give it some love.  Its combo is:

My sympathy card uses the Close to My Heart palette and looks like this:

So glad that the Buttercup cardstock is used!

Thanks for stopping by and wish you all a Happy 2013!

Chevron strips

I still have some Dotty for You paper and would love to create some more cards with it.

I took reference of the card shown on Paper Crafter's Library to make my card:

Chevron strips are so popular right now!  The bright colors are so perfect for the hot summer.
I've also participated in the CAS-ual Friday's challenge and 4 Crafty Chicks challenge.  Be sure to check out the awesome artwork created by other bloggers!
Have a great weekend!
