Monochromatic Christmas Card

This week Paper Crafter's Library presented a stunning Black and White Christmas card.  You could see the card here. 

The color combination struck me but when it comes to making something similar, I came to realize that I do not have any silhouette image.

While I was going through my stash I came across Holiday Magic, last year's Christmas Stamp of the Month and so I decided to make a monochromatic card using the set:

Boo

This week Black Tie Friday challenge challenges us to use circles with the theme of Halloween, and a touch of black. 

I have previously made this card that could enter the challenge, but of course I want to make something new!

So I cut some circles with the Art Philosophy cartridge (1.5" and 1.75" in white and black respectively), took out the Trinity stamp set that has been collecting dust and stamped "BOO" on the circles.  What about mouting it on a 2" scallop circle?  The 2" scallop circle punch has not received much attention recently and I could use it for this card!

I've stamped the argyle background over the card base, then added a panel of Sunset cardstock as the focal point, put the scallop circle on it, and finally stamped some bats to finish the card.

This card is also entering the challenges listed below:

Makeover Monday Challenge

It has been quite a while since I last participated in Makeover Monday Challenge.  This week the challenge shows us how to transform a beautiful Thank You card to a Thinking of You card.  You can see the transformation here.

I was inspired by the big pennants, then changed it to three little ribbon pennants.  The tag was the next element.  Even though I spent much time thinking of how to create a tag, I eventually opted for a label where I can stamp and cut with the Artiste cartrige.  I stamped two other images on cardstock and finished it off with embossing:

I'm so glad that I could use the retired ribbons.  It always feels good when we could use up some of the stash!

Christmas again

I've created another Christmas card again!  This time I'm using it to enter multiple challenges.  I'm using the sketch by iSpy Sketches:

Using Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, Olive cardstock and Stella paper, I've made my Christmas card:

It's super simple and super Christmas-y!

Makeover Monday Challenge

I saw two cute cards on the blog of Paper Crafter's Library and learned some tricks to transfrom other's ideas into our own ideas.  Then of course, I am going to try it out myself. 

The idea I was drawn to was the repeating element in the inspiring card, so I have cut the banners in different lengths and widths as my background.  After adding some twine and stamping a sentiment, the card is done!

I was attracted by the beautiful card showcased on the Makeover Monday Challenge and thought I should give it a try.

It is a "work from your stash" challenge and we want to use the inspiration piece as out guideline to create something on our own. 

I was drawn by the strips of paper and so I've made my card like this:

The stamped image is embossed with clear embossing powder, but it looks like the raised surface is in black.  To achieve this effect, I've stamped the image in black, then clean the stamp and stamp it with Versamark ink on top of the image.  Before the Versamark ink is dry, apply clear embossing powder generously and heat set it.

I wasn't confident that I could do it, because this stamp involves quite a lot of details and a tiny bit of deviation would mess it up.  But thanks to Close to My Heart's clear stamps, it is not difficult to overlap the images!

Thanksgiving in June??

What I meant was, I just made a Thanksgiving card in June, where the temperature is 99F today!

It feels funny because of the high temperature, yet it also feels good because I'm ahead of the game! :)

I have adopted the sketch in the inspiring card and the makeover card of this week's Makeover Monday Challenge.  Using the Olivia Workshop on the Go, this card came together fairly quickly:

Makeover Monday Challenge

Have you been to the blog of Paper Crafter's Library?  Almost every Monday it presents a challenge for us to create an artwork using our stash.  This week it presents a Thank You card.

I've adopted the concept of using squares as building blocks to create this card:

Good way to use the scraps.  I just can't wait to clean up my stash! 

Butterflies

Makeover Monday presented a card that says "Hi" with a butterfly and its trail.  The butterfly became the inspiring element for my card:

Makeover Monday Challenge with Friendship Bouquet

To make a card to enter this week's Makeover Monday Challenge, I've used the sunflower from the Stamp of the Month, Friendship Bouquet. 

The inspiration came from Tracy's big flower on her card.  I wanted to make the sunflower to be the focus, then I used one of the sketches from Wishes to complete it:

I had a lot of fun coloring the sunflower using Close to My Heart's watercolor pencils.  The petals were colored with three different colors then the colors were blended using the waterbrush:

The colors became softer and muted right away. 

I've used the same technique on another card.  I'll share it with you later this week.

Celebrate

To participate in this week's Makeover Monday Challenge, I've picked the retired "You Rock" paper packet to make a card.  I've made a rather musculine card that says "celebrate."  It was fun to use the cricut machine to cut out all the stars.  At the beginning I wanted to scatter them in the empty space, then I started to layer them and thought that it was not a bad idea. 

Birthday card with Sweetheart

This week's Makeover Monday challenge shows us a card that says "With Love."   It is a square card with some vintage-look patterned paper.  I've adopted the sketch to make a regular 4.25" x 5.5" card with the retired Sweetheart paper and the stamp set from its Workshop on the Go:

I saw the cute little "My Princess" card at Paper Crafter's Library and would like to participate in the challenge.  I kept everything simple and used the retired Mayberry paper.  Similar to the card I posted yesterday, I added a little liquid glass to each of the flowers, then some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel on the "Hi!"

You are Truly Amazing!

The April Stamp of the Month is truly amazing!  It is awesome for musculine Thank You cards.

What inspired me was the colors and the flowers.  I'm sure I could re-create the flowers with our helpful friend Art Philosophy cartridge.  However, I wanted to make a card to show appreciation.  Thus I adopted the sketch, used the Crusin paper pack and some other embellishments to make this one.

Sending you Birthday Wishes

Makeover Monday Challenge features a card with three guitars this week.  The inspiration piece is a card that showcases three black butterflies.  I really like the butterflies floating on a subtle patterned paper and so I prepared my card with three flowers.  The flowers were cut by the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  The green ones are 1/4" larger than the yellow ones and I've used the "layer" function to cut the yellow ones so it has a star center.  I've popped the middle one and slightly changed its orientation to give it some interest:

Crusin' - Have a nice trip!

Makeover Monday Challenge this week presents a vintage card that features paper with a map and a stamped bicycle.  I naturally thought of the Enjoy Life stamp set, which I often use.  However, I want to step it up and use something else.  Thus I used the Crusin' paper packet and the stamp that comes with its Workshop on the Go.  My card looks substantially similar to the one featured on the challenge:

I was thinking about what sentiment to put in, but I eventually wrote "Have a nice" by hand and used masking technique to stamp "TRIP."  This card will be perfect for my friend who will go on a road trip.

You are so Wonderful

This week Makeover Monday Challenge presents a cute card featuring colorful balloons.  I like the sketch of the card and made this one:

I like the little birdie that says "You are so Wonderful," which gives a variation for a Thank You card.  On the other hand, it could be used for general appreciation or love.  How nice!

Life is Like a Bowl of Cherries

Makeover Monday Challenge posted two cards this past Monday: one shows a basket of Easter eggs and the other shows a bowl of noodles.  I then kept thinking if I have anything food-related and found the stamp set from Cherry-O Workshop on the Go:

The sketch of the card is All Squared Up, one of the patterns from Wishes, our Card Confidence Program.

Makeover Monday Challenge & Footloose

An announcement was made that Makeover Monday Challenge will be discontinued.  This may be my very last Makeover Monday Challenge post.  You can find this week's challenge here.  Since the inspiring piece uses strips of patterned, paper, I naturally thought of the zip strip that comes with the Close to My Heart B&T paper and gave it a try:

Spring is around the corner, but I can't wait for summer to come!  That's why I choose the Footloose paper.
