Window card again

I mentioned that I am drawn to window cards recently in yesterday's post.  That Christmas card was not too difficult, as there is a coordinating stamp for the die.  As long as I am careful in lining up the opening when I stamp, I can't really mess it up.

Today's card is quite different.  It is a result of trials and errors.  I am really happy with my experiment!  I started playing with this idea of window card because I am going to attend quite a number of kiddos birthday parties.  Plain cards are probably too boring for kids, and even though I tried some interactive cards, I am a bit worried that those tiny parts might come off and become a choking hazard.  I settled with clear cards, partly because I have had them for more than 2 years but they were not even opened, and also because they are quite different from a store bought card.  Since I was going to use a clear card, I wanted to make something really special, and that led to the idea of window card.

This card is going to a boy so I wanted to make a lot of stars for him:

If you look closely, you'll see that the yellow star appears that it is suspending on the clear card.  The "inside" or back of the card has a bigger orange star so when the card is closed, it looks like it is a big orange star decorated with layers.  Of course, when you open it you will see that it is not just one star, but many many stars.  How fun.

The kid's first name begins with a K so I put a K in the middle of the yellow star.  I really like the font of this K and can't believe that even though I have had this die for a long time I have yet used it! The bottom panels serves as the place for me to write my greeting.  One of the things I'll put is of course "You are a Star!" and he truly is.

That explains the boy version of this card and I can't let this great idea stop here.  I have made a girl version of this card, except that it has a big heart instead of a big star.  The girl version is more difficult because as the heart size grows the proportion does not grow exactly proportionally.  I managed to make it work but that involved quite some experiments.  Did I mention that it was all done by Cricut Art Philosophy and Cricut Craft Room?  Thanks to them I can cut the shapes out with my calculated measurement, otherwise my idea may not be materialized.

Happy that I got these two cards done.  A couple more to go before the end of this year.   Any ideas for kiddos' cards?
