Birthday celebration

While Independence Day is approaching, many challenges ask us to use red, blue and white.  I rarely send out July 4 cards because it is a day that we gather for barbeque and I'd much rather use these colors for decoration.

On the other hand, these colors often remind me of the retired paper pack Fanfare.  Its summer colors and patterns are very fun.  So I thought, however making a masculine birthday card with Fanfare?  I based on my card on the sketch from Seize the Birthday:

A simple birthday card

Today's card is a simple birthday card for a lady that I always adore.  I had the joy to work with her briefly and those days were some of the best working days one could imagine.  I'm combining the tic-tac toe challenge at The Paper Players and the sketch at Fusion Card challenge for my card:

Tic-tac-toe challenges are fun.  There are so many combos to choose from and I often spend a lot of time thinking which one to pick.  I started with Birthday-Bling-Embossing but eventually changed to Birthday-Yellow-Ribbon, but I still have the embossed background!  Haha~

Cupcakes

When I was taking a picture of this card I made, I just came to realize that the card didn't involve any stamping!  It was all about the patterned paper from a 6x6 paper pack.

It is a kid's birthday card so lots of colors are required.  Lots of patterns and lots of fun.  Otherwise the kid may easily get bored.  Here it is:

More Dream Pop

Today marks the end of the first half of 2013.  I can't believe that time flies this fast. 

As we are approaching the second half of 2013, I am certainly very excited to welcome the new Close to My Heart Idea Book, but I am conscious that I should be actively using the existing products to make room for the new goodies!

So I'm making a quick card using the Dream Pop paper and the sketch from Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge:

Another birdie

Today I'm sharing a card using another birdie image from the same stamp set I used yesterday.  Here you go:

Totally in love with the image.  Elegant and versatile.  I got the sketch from Retro Sketches:

See how I use color pencils to outline the image?  It was a lot of fun and I like that it adds some colors subtly to the image.

One card one stamp

Do you know that Close to My Heart has some A-sized stamps where they are rather big images and after you stamp it on a 3x3 (or even larger) card, your card is basically finished?

I like using those stamps for quick cards, but today I am sharing a card that I only have one stamped image on it but the stamp is not one of those A-sized stamp sets.

At first I thought it might be boring if there is only one stamped image on the card, but after adding some colors to it, the image really pops.  Together with the doily cut by the Artiste cartridge, the card comes together quite nice.

To tell you the truth, I was inspired to use this stamp by this sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch:

And to tell you some more, I was inspired by the Close to My Heart Idea Book on how to use this stamp.  The Idea Book showcased a card stamped with this image where the bird and the flowers are slightly colored.  This is an awesome idea and I'll employ this technique more often!

Celebrate

I've made a quick birthday card for the challenge at Seize the Birthday.  I just love this stamp so much from the For Always cardmaking workshop on the go!  It is good for a million occasions!

I think it goes really well with the You Rock paper and so I just naturally reached for that paper pack.  Isn't it a good one for a guy?

After trying constantly to make masculine cards I think my stash is getting fatter.  Perhaps I can take a break and go back to my feminine cards.  Yay!
